“Newman Project”, first known as “Fernand Neumann & Friends” has been founded in 2019 by Fernand Neumann and Sacha Heck who know each other since the 90s where they played together with “First-H”, a rock-blues-funk band from Southern Luxembourg. They had their first performance on 11th July 2019 at “Bechtival” festival in Bech-Gare (L).

The line-up of “Newman Project” is variable, however the musicians currently playing are: Fernand Neumann (saxophone), Sacha Heck (bass), David Lemmer (guitar), Steve Krippler (drums) and Christophe Reitz (electric violin). Occasionally a singer maybe als oappear on stage for some songs. The musical style may be described as Funk-Lounge-NuJazz but is open to a lot of influences. Starting point was a CD named “Saxy Lounge” that Fernand has recorded some years ago featuring electronic lounge tunes with saxophone melodies on top. The idea of the project is to reproduce that sound in a live setting with real musicians.

Other artists we like and who inspire our music are: Miloopa, Moloko, De Phazz, St. Germain, Jabberloop, Nighthawks, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, Portico Quertet …
